Greyhound Bus is been sold to German Company FLIX and is unloading its historic art deco bus stations

The Greyhound Terminal on Randolph Street was demolished some years ago to make way for the James Thompson Center. The new terminal is located at Desplaines and Harrison.

Geez, there are plenty of nice regional lines left in this country that do a better job than Greyhound ever did. I can think of two in Wisconsin. Wisconsin Coach Lines and Badger Bus. The problem with Greyhound is they did not really innovate their schedules or product much as the times changed. I thought their terminals were dumpy for the most part and a magnet for the homeless or panhandlers.

Rode Wisconsin Coach and Burlington Trailways and had good service. Burlinton Trailways was part of the Bulington Railway and has direct connections at some METRA stations in Chicago

The Trailways system was a consortium of multiple operators of various sizes operating under the Trailways banner. Some are former interurban railroads that converted to bus and provide service over their former rail routes plus other new routes.

Before they were merged into one entity, some of the original Greyhound operators were also railroad-owned.

Combine Coach Baggage Mail on Tires!! Wow!

I guess I’d take the train then or rent a car…

Most rental car compnies requir the driver to be 25 years of age and have a credit card. I was 23 at the the time. Train service from Baltimore to Cumberland MD Was not a direct route but there was bus service from Balt to Hagerstown to Cumberland. Hagerstown was a town that I have family in. Just far enough out that my Hagerstown fam could not drive out to get me.

When I was working for Chessie System in downtown Baltimore, there were several acquaintences that commuted on a daily basis from Hagerstown. Several years ago I would attend my granddughters gymnastics classes in Hagerstown, next to the gym was a bus company that provided commuter service between Hagerstown and Baltimore.

I do recall the Grayhound Terminal on North Howard Street.

How about ride share then? We used to call it hitch hiking… worked great…

Used it college in the 64-67 era - wouldn’t do it today. That said trying to hitch hike from downtown Baltimore to Hagerstown would be difficult. In the OP’s time the Interstate didn’t come downtown.

Last check about 4 years ago they got rid of the Greyhound Station and Service in Hagerstown MD
