It’s probably just me, but I have a heck of a time getting what I want from the MR web page. Everytime I think I am about to see or print something I want, I get something else. I am a subscriber, so I can only assume everything is open to me. (You know what happens when you assume!)
For example, I did not receive a March issue, so I wanted to look at the Whasup Dock Co. trackplan.Well, I clicked on it, printed out the pdf of the plan, then decided I wanted to read the material. I clicked where it says Print Article, (thinking that means you are about to print the article), no it printed a small version of the trackplan and stops! Yes I had the printer set up to print ALL, but there was no ALL.
So, is it just me, or does this system leave a lot to be desired?
It seems to be a combination. An “article” in the context of a web system is not necessarily the same as an “article” in the context of a printed magazine.
I tested the function you mention - it tries to print the content of the central frame on the web page - ie the minature picture of the layout, plus the layout information (scale, size, where plan first was published, turnout sizes etc).
So part of the problem is that the link says “print article” instead of e.g. “print web page”, and that makes you think that you can print the article that appeared alongside the trackplan in the original magazine, whereas what the function is trying to do is to print the web page.
Kalmbach is only offering the track plans for free for subscribers, not the articles from the magazines. Those you will have to borrow or buy to read.
If your magazine did not arrive, you can get a free replacement issue from Kalmbach.
Both of these things (reporting poor/confusing web page functionality and requesting a replacement for an issue not received) can be done by using the link “Customer Service” in the top right hand corner of t
