Groaning noise from P2K engines

I have a pair of 4 axle P2K engines and also a pair of 6 axle P2K engines. They are not very old. When I first run them, after a few weeks of inactivity, they make a groaning noise for awhile. After they are run for a bit, maybe 10 minutes, then the noise goes away. From what I can tell, it is usually one of the engines in the pair making the noise, and not both of them.

I am thinking that something needs to be oiled. Would like to know what it is before I take them apart.

Anyone else experience this noise on P2K engines? How did you fix it?

Thanks!

Mark

Hi Mark

I agree, take the peanut butter out of the axles and you will be better off. Here is something to give some ideas

Mark,

I agree. Cleaning out the old grease and re-greasing should be your first step. And make sure you use a compatible grease and oil like Labelle 106 & 108.

Also, what are the conditions of the room where your locomotives are running? Is it cool to cold? If so, that wouldn’t help things either.
