Ground-breaking locomotive added to ‘Streamliners’ event

@ MATT HOFFMAN from ARKANSAS . I think I saw a pic of the So called “B” unit on its way in a consist on the facebook page. It was behind Southern #6900 in Tenn. I believe.
FT units were semi permanently coupled which is why I said “So called” B" unit" This one has had couplers added.

just WOW !

Compare this beauty with the Talgo’s cab… a face only a mother could love. Great industrial design really matters.

Wonder why EMD EA #51 from the B&O Railroad Museum won’t be present? I believe some brake components were removed when she was traded in, but she was able to be moved by train to the museum 65 years ago or so, so it wasn’t an issue then.

Would be fitting to see the start of the E unit line attend as well.

Did it leave for Spencer yet?

That’s amazing, this really is going to be one for the books.

I wish they could reunite this A with the B that is in Virginia. I think they’re from different sets originally but they sure do look great together in that demonstrator scheme.

Since this is the diesel that began the downfall of steam, is it OK to hiss when it comes in view?

Are there enough house tracks by the turntable to host all these beauties? That photo might make the NS heritage shoot look rather “average”.

Shout out to all the video companies I do hope/pray ya’ll are going to make some fine video histories of this event.

Thanksd to all who are sharing these national treasures and Spencer for hosting the event.

If the 103 is going to spencer, wouldn’t the General Pershing Zephyr unit that is in the same museum be considered an early streamliner and go along also? The 103 was mated to the B unit from Virginia for one of the Sacramento rail fest in 1991 or 1999. They were both equipped with standard couplers so they could be pulled in train.

I agree with Peter, a special issue is definitely needed. Maybe even, dare I say, some live streaming from the event. It would be awesome to get a virtual tour of each locomotive with someone that could provide some basic explanation.

The hills in the background of that photo look pretty familiar. The caption should read “Demonstrator no 103 on tour on the Santa Fe in Cajon Pass, California.” It would be good if the B unit painted to match could accompany it. The event is just too soon for me to fly to the USA to attend, and the really interesting exhibits (the PA-1 and the FT) were added to late for me to change my plans. Another “Trains” special issue perhaps?

Yes, the B&O EA #51 should be present however, as I saw, the unit is in a pretty scruffy state.

TRAINS will be at the Live event in nearby VA for the departure of the #611, which is going to Spencer. Last I saw it it had much of the driving assembly removed. I also saw that Jim Wrinn , Editor of TRAINS Magazine will be at Spencer. ( based on facebook). One way or the other, there will be hundreds of Terabytes of media recorded…

I wish ROCK ISLAND 652 & 630 could be towed there/since they are the ONLY two streamliners in existence. They are beautiful ROCKET locos that need restored.
