Remember please Central Florida - that it takes a while for people to change their commuting patterns… Give it a chance!
And at the same time they want to expand adjacent I-4 from 6 lanes to 10 lanes.
About time ! This plan has been “talked about” FAR TOO LONG .
Logan, I agree, and I hope people give it a chance. It will be an uphill battle all the way though; take it from this Floridian-I know my state. But I believe in rail and I know others do,too. Let’s hope it’s the start of a new day for multi-modal transit options!

I hope Republicans have fun sitting in congested traffic during their convention, and miss some important meetings and engagements during the course of the convention. I long for the day for better rail service and public transportation connections in Tamapa Bay. We’re probably one of the ten largest metros that have NO local rail transportation. Even with a huge body of water in Tampa Bay, it would be nice to have some ferry boat service as well. We tried buiding toll raods, and they have been a failure in solving our traffic woes. Who wants to pay more to drive? Do you LIKE paying tolls?
Does this do anything to help with the badly needed airport, park and downtown area connections for the Orlando area? Or does it just connect it with some place that doesn’t need help?
Ron, in regards to your inquiry, time will tell if the SunRail proposal was a good idea to begin with. What I do know is that taxpayers residing within 4 central Florida counties (Duval, Orange, Osceola and Volusia), plus the city of Orlando are expected to foot much of the construction costs, which in turn will benefit CSX (which is slated to receive a distribution center without spending a dime of its own money). This resulted from concession made by Florida DOT during negotiations in order to gain access to their tracks.
