Ground throws for 1:20.3

Can anyone recommend a ground throw that will look to scale with AMS code 250 flex track?

Any advice is welcome.

Tim

Bruce Chandler had a nice How-To article in GR a few issues ago on building your own 1:20 ground throws despite it’s desecration of U.S. currency (pennies).

I use those Sunset Valley ones and they (IMHO) look good and have remained functional. These are actually high mount rather than ground throw. Mine have been in place for a little over 2.5 years now, and this fall I did re-paint the red on the targets. These are brass and are generally sturdy. I modified some ends of vynal downspout to fit over the switchstands to protect them from the garden hose or lawnmower electric cord when the railroad isn’t in operation.

I mounted my switchstands at the end of the long ties provided for that purpose on the Sunset Valley turnouts. This works fine for my 1:20.3 equipment. I had some folks come over one time to run their larger scale equipment on my track, and I found that not everything would clear my switchstands. If I was starting that again, I would set them back a little further than prototype to allow for “oversize” visiting equipment.
