Are there any good locations to see a lot of GTW power still painted for the GTW, as opposed to the CN North America repaints that are sublettered or the Alstom lease units? Anything in the Chicago area? I’m just trying to recapture a bit of my childhood…
CN’s US motive power does tend to get “mixed in” quite a bit, as a result I regularly see plenty of IC, WC, and CN power coming through Milwaukeeland. I would guess, however, that a lot of the old GTW power does still stick around the territory in which it used to run, on the GTW Chicago-Michigan. You’ll still see tons of CN and other CN family power, but I would presume you’d see the most GTW on the GTW itself…

You have to go to places where old the GTW and old the IC tracks and yards are around Chicago.
A large group of GTW GP38’s in the 4900 series are now numbered in IC style numbers and operating on the old IC trackage.
There is as many GTW GP38s on the IC as you would find on the GTW.
