I’d listen to this guy.

Is it recent or from the past? Looks like an older photo.

You had best listen to the guy in the swamp (Like MP 4.1 , end of CTC Galveston Sub, SP/GH&H junction connections even…) The ATSF standard station sign gave it away early.

you got all that out of that picture? Wow! Once again, I am impressed!

Ed and Mudchicken are correct.

1991-92

I shoot a lot of black and white. This was a scan of a negative testing the scanner.

Ok here is another and no peeking

I think you should be standing right about where the center telephone pole is…

You’re looking across Galveston Bay, with Texas City and the Texas City Dike in the background…note the oil tanker on the left heading out.

This is also the entrance to the Houston Ship Channel.

Almost…they had one side done, dropped the outbound bridge, funneled all the traffic on to the one side, and dropped the inbound old bridge a few months ago…it has been about 6 months since I have had time to go fishing…I head out to Bolivar and the North Jetty, so the only way to get there in any decent time is to drive into Galveston, then cross back onto the mainland via the ferry.

So I have not been across the new causeway in a while…funny, the really old one still does what it was built to do just fine!

I doubt they will ever “finish” the Gulf Freeway, they have been working on some part of it since I was a little, little kid…sorta a lifetime long project for Williams Brothers construction![;)]

i noticed in that sat photo the new causway construction.

except on the really old one they took teh roadway off the draw part when they replaced the bridge years back.

I saw a Johnny Carson promo once he said " the tonight show is like the Gulf freeway in Houston, Never finished".

ahh for some good gulf fried shrimp

Alvin,Texas?
