this weekend i went to a local model railroad club and i was invited to participate in this layout that have that is huge. They behaved great and told me that i can run my trains on this impressive layout. I also asked them about which locos they recomend the most and believe it or not due to cost, power and other aspects they recommended athearn bb kits. right up my alley. [:D][8D]
they also recomended these locos over atlas in performance on their layout!!!
Are you sure they weren’t just pulling your leg? Athearn BB loco’s are OK but far from the quality of an Atlas, Kato or a Proto 2000.
They might have been referring to overall durability. Not just the gears and motors, but the cruder handrails on Athearn blue box are also more durable than the really nice handrails on P2K and Kato when subjected to frequent (mis)handling.
