Had a Funny One the Other Day

Hey everybody,

The other night on a trip to Northtown (Disneyland), after sitting outside the yard for what seemed forever, 8h30m trip from Lacrosse, only 143miles. Oh and our train had no work and was mainline in Lacrosse, south runner (next to the main) at Northtown, and power stayed on. A typical trip. Anyway, while we were pullin in the yard a CP train stuck out at Park Jct. started calling for the special agent. Here’s kinda how it went:

CP “CP??? calling special agent over”

SA “bnsf special agent over”

CP “CP??? at the park, it looks like a bunch of kids sitting on the diamond throwing stuff at the track and playing with switches over”

SA “KIDS ON THE TRACK!”

CP “they might be adults”

Dispatcher “I’ve got MOW out there, over”

CP “Oh…sorry”

Dispatcher “It’s bring your kid to work day, isn’t that on your bulletins”

lol, thats pretty good.

a number of years ago, i was up at Rochelle with my dad and some others from our club. for thoughs of you just familliar with the cam there, the view it shows, on the UP line, out of the picture to the left, is a grade crossing. there was a MOW crew working on it all day, and made up of all mexicans. at sometime through the day, one UP crew called to a following train, and told him to “watch out for the mariachi band working the crossing” (dont know how bad i mis-spelled it)

sorry still remember it after almost 15 years
