I have a Hafner yellow streamliner that I would like to know more about. It is the articulated train that is like a UP M10000. I would like to know if it has a Hafner number and what years it was made. I have mostly prewar Lionel and have the books I need for them, but have no info on Hafner. Thanks, rjh
My Hafner reference says that its Hafner number is–M10000!
Thank you Bob. I like your user name–did you reference say what years it was made?

Hafner started making the M10000 in 1935 followed by the slant-nose Zephyrs in 1937. WWII ended production of all Hafner streamliners though some, probably to use up old stock, were sold for a few post-war years.
there were two major versions of the M10000. the early models connected with a pin atop of the vestibule ends, but those were found to be too prone to accidental uncoupling on rough track (which i can attest to personally) and were later modified to couple through a floor extension with a longer pin that provided a much more robust coupling.
they’re fun little trains that look good even on O27/O31 curves.
cheers…gary
Thank you Gary, that was the information I was wanting. Mine are the early models. I collect all of the M10000 s and M 10005 s and different zephyr type trains I can afford.

Sweet! That makes mine an early one! [swg]
