Hamburg Trains - Modelleisenbahn Wunderland

My wife and I just spent the last month traveling in Europe to celebrate our 30th and to reconnect with our families over there.

While in Germany, my brother-in-law and I took the opportunity one day to travel to Hamburg and see the massive (I think it is the world’s largest) train display. It is all HO and totally computerized.

Here are two of the many pictures we took. No words could describe all that we saw and it would take several pages to describe the automation they have achieved - they are currently working on their own GPS system.

Regards,

Is this the place?

This layout was featured in one of the Tracks Ahead episodes a couple of years ago, and garnered some derisive comments from nit-pickers and rivet counters.

Yes, some folks will not find it in themselves to offer even a tiny attaboy.

I think it is marvellous.

Pardon the American Ignorance, but what is the green car to the right of the picture?

That would be a schnabel car. See below:

Don Z.

Don’t know if it’s an actual “Schnabel” brand car, but it is definitely a car that moves large transformers.

Boy, can you imagine stringing all the catenary on that layout!
