Handlaying Track ?????'s

Hi,
I’m planning a layout and I want to handlay the track. My question is how hard is it to handlay track in N scale? I’ve handlaid some HO scale track, but with the size difference is it any harder? Also what size rail in N scale is most protypical? And also how hard is it to handlay turnouts? And finally is handlaying track any cheaper? (I’m trying to save my parents some money)

Thanks in advance
Andrew

I believe most N-scalers solder their track to PC ties.

Check out www.sdsons.org - these guys handlay their N scale track and turnouts - using Code 40 rail!!!

Model Railroader September 1998 had an article about handlaying N scale turnouts - you could order a back issue of it.

Now that you mentioned that club, if you are ever in the San Diego area don’t miss this. This a MUSEUM quality model Railroad as are the HO layouts.
