Handrails, etc on IHC Premier Locos

Have a number of the Premier locos, though probably not too prototypical, they run very well, and quietly. They’re good for what I want. I am just wondering if there is any possible way to blacken the stainless steel handrails., besides painting. That would pretty much fini***hem off for me. Any help woulsd be ___greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! Jerry Feferabend

I don’t think the handrails are stainless steel, just plain steel. I’ve painted the few that I have with reagular Floquil paint and it seems to work OK.

If you think paint would be too thick you might try a black magic marker. It will dry glossy so if you want them flat you will need to spray some flat finish (dullcote) when dry.

I was sorta hoping there was some other solution besides paint & magic marker. I"ve tried them both. Thanks for youyr quick response.

Try Blacken-it. Do a google search on it.

I think Micro-Mark has a bottle of blackening fluid for around $10.
