Happy and disapointed at the same time.

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday afternoon i was down at the LHS for a single but major reason. I need to start laying my track. I have heard from many different users on the forum that code 55 looks alot better than the traditional code 80 (used on my last layout). I decided to mix things up and go for the code 55. I bought 5 pieces of 36" atlas flex track, 3 packs of 10" radius, and 3 packs of 4.25" straight track. Eager as could be when i got home, i opened the packages and began to figure out where i should start. After i was happy with the way it looked, I took out my track nails, and began desperatly looking for the holes in the ties for the nails. THERE IS NONE! Long story short, my project has been haulted by this issue. How do you guys nail it down? I ordered track spikes from the LHS, but soon found out they are on back order from walthers.

Thankyou, as it is greatly appreciated.

Don’t nail it down. The nail heads show up…I can see them easily, even when the track is ballasted and the whole is weathered. Use cheap acrylic latex caulk spread very thin on the roadbed and then press the tracks into it. Find an effective way to weight the tracks down so they will adhere, but also so that they don’t become uneven with dips and rises.

Drill your own holes if it’s gonna be temporary. Use caulk to hold it if it’s permanent.

Atlas has started the holes on the underside of the flex.
