And a Happy Father’s Day to you as well!
My four kids are in their mid 40s, so while I’ve been somebody’s “ol Man” and celebrated Fathers Day for over 40 years, my favorite ones were in the early '70s. Typically, their Mother would take them to Hills Hobby Shop (Joliet, Illinois) and pick up a bunch of Athearn car kits as presents. Looking back, those “Fathers Day experiences” meant more to me than any since then. Ha, if only someone had told me back then, “these will someday be your good ol days!”
ENJOY !!!
Right now I’m anxiously awaiting a visit from my single male offspring and his son, who are traveling from Ilinois to California (via the Grand Canyon, LOL!) to spend a couple of weeks here. I’ve already got plans for them–my son is going to re-wire the layout (I’m getting a little old to crawl around down there), while my 15 year old grandson is going to be indoctrinated into the hobby–it won’t take much, LOL! He’s also a Geology nut, so we’re going to spend quite a bit of time in the mountains while he hunts for interesting rocks and I get some more scenery ideas.
I’m ‘daylighting’ one of my long tunnels (well, most of it) and preparing to scenick a rather large ‘pink’ portion of the layout, so we’ll ALL have some stuff cut out for us when they arrive. Unfortunately, it will be mid-week, so Father’s Day is going to consist of e-mails (unless they’re traipsing around at the bottom of the Canyon near Phantom Ranch right now. I never know about those two, LOL!).

Thank you and Happy Father’s Day to all of you. My wife and mother-in-law, who is now living with us, took me out to a local diner (Regis’s) for a great home cooked breakfast. Standing room only in our little restaurant but filled with some wonderful people, we all had a nice time. Me, I had the Greek Scramble and it was delicious. Mother-in-law had the strawberry/rhubarb French Toast and my lovely wife had the “Full Montana.” A great place if you are ever in this neck of the woods.

Happy Fathers Day!
Here is my 7 month old little angel - I’m loving my first Fathers Day! Took me till 43 to finally have a child, so I am cherishing every minute of it…
My kids are 9 & 12. I’m 54. So that makes me an old geezer dad too. The benefit is, I am also retired and that lets me spend a lot of time with them.[tup]

Pennsy-nut, there’s absolutely NOTHING like that first Fathers’ Day. I hope you took a lot of pictures. Brent, I’m 56, (old geezer, too) with a 23 year old daughter and a soon-to-be 29 year old son. Between them, we have 4 grandchildren; 1 boy and 3 girls. I hope you BOTH enjoyed your Fathers’ Day!
