Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Nation Train Day. Now go spend a day railfanning! [:P]
It’s a BUMMER when one lives in an area of almost NO 1:1 trackage [ like yours truly ]! Only have twice-a-week NS coal train to local electric generating plant across the river and nothing else to speak of [ was local freight turn which ran north of electric plant about 2 or 3 times/ week but haven’t heard/ seen it of late. To all those folks who still HAVE rr trackage near their locale; every time you hear, see, feel the rumble; remember that if it wasn’t for railroads [ even with the large bunch of greedy rr barons, et al, we’ve had ] our country would never have expanded to what it is today, in anywhere near the time it took to do so. AND we’d have been in a fine mess during WWI & WWII without our nationwide rail lines! TTFN…Old Tom aka papasmurf in NH

I had a good day
Thank you. I had a train moment while walking the dog this morning. Living a block and a half from old Pennsy tracks and 4 blocks from Nickle Plate tracks, now both run by Norfolk and Southern, I get train moments often. Train moments are what my brother and I started calling it when we see a train or have to wait for one at a crossing. I say who needs sound when the real thing in a little more than a block away. Just a couple of blocks further south I get the old Wabash tracks too.
Happy National Train Day to you too TL. I’m rather lucky that the campus I am stuck on (I’m studying for finals) has a UP main line through the center of it! And I have an updated CTC website for the area! Hopefully it will be busy today. Best wishes to all who are doing anything to celebrate today [:D]
Happy National Train Day!
Unfortunately, I was unable to spend my day trackside or working on the layout. I had to take stupid SAT’s… [|(]
