For the previous nine days I have been visiting my wife’s #2/youngest son in the panhandle of Florida so I really don’t have any (model railroad) plans for the day other than to look in on the forum to see what is going on . . . . . which is what I am doing now. That is about what I would be doing were I at home. I will tell you this much though: a year from now I’m gonna make my last payment on a car and my train budget will turn from its current zero to $150 a month in the microseconds it takes me to click the “Pay Now” key on Toyota Financial’s website.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and may God touch you with his infinite blessings on this day.
Playing with trains, watch Macy’s parade on TV. Watch football. EAT then promptly take a a nap!
I am the one cooking the bird.
My other half has a 4 hour stint to do at work today so is at work. HAd to work last year also.
I just put the bird in the oven for about 3 hours so it will be done when other half comes home.
Have to make the giblet stuffing in about 2.5 hours to bake a bit in the oven then make the turkey dripping/giblet gravy. HMM
Simple meal this year: turkey and giblet stuffing, giblet gravy, and corn, apple pie ala mode. Not too big a fancy meal for the two of us. Other half doesn’t like eating turkey for days on end afterward. Usually I go all out with {also} smashed taters, butternut squash and candied yams. No more. My back can’t take making a big feast like that anymore. And for just teh two of us? Nah. WE have apple pie and french vanilla ice cream for desert. Had pumpkin pie last week,.so apple today.
Then we go to the hospital to see the MIL and take a plate of TG food to the FIL IF he wants it. {He said 3 years ago, “well, I never really did like turkey”, then proceeded to have 3 plate fulls of turkey and trimmings like he does every year. SO we decided then and there that maybe we wouldn’t include him and turkey in the same sentence again and 2 years ago we had Chickens for TG.}
No MRR plans as of yet…will however, find a place to put the shtuff that has accumulated on the table the Under-the-xmas-table-top-tree layout will sit on until Orthodox Christmas. That will hopefuly go up this weekend. Have to get a new and bigger board for it this year. Gonna put in a small oval of 18R" curves for the HO stuff instead of the 15R" we have been having. That way I can run my trains and bigger engines without them hating me for making them run at slow speeds on to- tight curves. ANd gonna put a bigger oval of 12.5R" curves for the Nscale so as to run bigger N scale locos and passenger cars on.
OH LOOK!!! It’s flurrying outside!!! First flurries of the
Staying at home, making a good meal of turkey, stuffing, smashed taters, dried corn, mixed veggies, with pie for dessert.
Just put the top layer of foam on my last two layout sections, now til tomorrow until the glue dries…

Visiting my mother between Tuscon & Nogales. Went for a long walk after a great dinner and checked out some ex-SP trackage through the pecan orchards. Supposedly still used during the harvest, but I’ve never seen any evidence of it.
I’m thankful for all the advice and encouragement I’ve received here since i returned to the hobby!
