Thanks Benny, on Turkey Day its with the inlaws, then weekend with my family.
Kim, you missed one of the BIG event out here on the Left Coast…
The Doo Dah Parade here in Pasadena was this last weekend and despite a storm the night before that dumped 1/2 inch of rain and snow down to the 2000 foot level it went on without a hitch. This parade is a very off center and occasionally risque parody of the Rose Parade dating from the 70’s.
A few of the participants you missed were the Men of Leasure marching band (a marching band in horrendous 70’s leasure suits), The Claude Raines Invisible Marching Band, The Precision Executives Breifcase Drill Team, the Barbeque Hibachi Marching Grill Team, the Powered Lawn Mower Precision Drill Team, the HOWLelujah Chorus (Basset Hounds all howling), and of course the parades official rock band “Snotty Scotty and the Wet Hankies”… [;)]
Vic, how could I have forgotten that!! ‘Snotty Scotty and the wet Hankies’? mmmmmm…definately give that one a miss!

Connecting this with one of your previous posts regarding living on the left coast, there just isn’t a better place to live than in CA. Trust me , there are NO parades such as you describe here in the Northeast. What we get is a constant reminder of our puritanical past.

Hmmmm, here in “dull” Wisconsin we don’t have any events like that. . though it is currently deer hunting season (gun), so watch out if you’re in the woods!

You’re absolutely right. We should all be grateful for what we have. Every country represented on this forum has peace on it’s native soil and by all accounts there is relative prosperity for us all. Witness the fact that all of us have the time and resources to participate in this great hobby and are able to share it with our fellow modelers via this forum. Like the man said, things could be a lot worse.
So a happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and to the rest of you Blokes and Shielas, good cheer.

Vic we have a Doo Dah parade here in Columbus, Ohio on the 4th of July we have the sycronized lawn mower drill team the Fidel Castro brigade and so on. It is definately an interesting event every year!

Well isn’t it good that we are all well enough off to be able to eat as much as we like, at times like these. Many places in the world you could not do that.
We do not recognise Thanksgiving but all the best to those of you that do.
All that talk about rain and snow makes me really glad to be here on Kawana Island where it is 30 degrees and slightly overcast. We do nopt get snow, frost or even hardly any dew for that matter. The state government will only allow it ot rain at night and then it bucets down, 75 mm in a night is common place but of course we had 7 months when it didn’t rain at all; Feb - Oct 2004.

my wife’s name is Jean our garden rail road is called B AND J RAIL ROAD how much snow did you get??? you need a train snow plow or snow blower??? I don’t have either one my self maybe i’ll take an old car and try and build one, a snow plow.

Got about two inches of snow here. Problem is the first part was rainy and wet. Froze right to the rails. I would have to clean it before I could plow it which sort of defeats the purpose. Don’t have any kind of a plow yet. Need to get something battery operated going. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Later eh…Brian.
