Harbor layouts

Hello there fellow model railroaders, the question i have is this i am modeling a HO scale layout running from Newyork to Ohio. The Nickel Plate Railroad system. Utilizing A HARBOR, SAWMILL, AND LIGHT TO HEAVY INDUSTRY. and suggestions on layout and plans would be appreciated.

thanks NKPrailroader

check out the Kalmbach books by Ian Rice. Great small to medium layouts many with just the industries you describe.

Also anybody interested in getting together and shooting the breeze there is no one inmy area that does what i do In HO scale. please respond as soon as possible.

thanks NKPrailroader

My in-laws live in Florida, and when we go to visit I try to stop by the Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club. They have some masterful scenery guys there. I love the harbor they’ve created:

This is a look at their barge terminal. The water is calm here, but a bit further out it’s got more waves and even some frothy caps on them.

I’m planning a bit of a harbor on Moose Bay, inside the bridge. It will be strictly for the locals, small boats only and no interaction with the railroads. That scenery is probably a year away, though…

Hi nkprailroader

You and others might like to visit this really great website about the Nickel Plate 765 steam engine and the Fort Wayne Indiana Railroad Historical Society.

Hey nkprailroader I got your private message and hadn’t realized I’d responded to your post earlier. Sheesh I’m embarrassed now. Anyways welcome to the forum. Just read all the posts and ask questions when you have them. Most of the folks here usually have an answer for something. This forum is not really a chat room but a site where you can check in from time to time and give and get input. Personally I can’t type fast enough for a chatroom. I’m an old geezer and am lucky I don’t nod off before finishing a post like this.

As far as a harbor layout there’s lot of links to check out for these. Just go back through the posts and checkout the links that are offered.
