The second gen ones add a few programming options plus have a terminal for contacts to be used as feedback. They do NOT directly feed into any DCC system - you need some sort of input device to do that (DS54/64, Team Digital, or CML for Digitrax, AUI for NCE, or whatever the Lenz feeback module is called for that system)
