Actually, I’d bet on the Pan Am Railway to purchase this (always a dream of the owner, even back in he Guilford Days) and the Norfolk Southern to form a Joint Venture Corporation (e.g. Pan AM Southern and Meridian Speedway) to upgrade it and have permanent trackage rights.
OK so if NS buys the D&H a Champlain Blue and Grey unit would be good, but even better would be to see the 2 surviving PAs back on the on the head end of passenger service along Lake Champlain. Nothing says D&H like a smoking Alco.
