Marc; It is better in 7/8th scale. I have just retrofitted the mining loco with a RCS control system. The throttle I installed has an automatic run feature that uses magnets in between the rails. I will be adding 7/8th scale details and a driver to finish off the loco. I will send you a photo when I finish the loco. John Foley
I have several Hartland products. I have been very happy with them: South Shore Interurban, Sparky, two 0-4-0 steam engines. My club used one of the 0-4-0’s on our winter layout at our Botanical Gardens. It consistenly outperformed the LGB Stainz engines. It is strong and does not pull as much voltage as the Stainz. We had a sound car that would only work downhill with the Stainz, but worked flawlessly with the Hartland 0-4-0 steamer.
