I’m trying to decide which turnouts I should buy in bulk.
Where can I find a comparison?
I need code 83 R24-r28 curved, #5, and #6 that work with well tortoise machines. Dependable operation and adherence to standards is highest priority followed by how they look. (Tie spacing, size, color)
I need about 40 altogether, and would hate to buy the wrong ones at $40 each. cringe
~Thanks

M.R. did a comparison of turnouts about a year ago, I think. Check the index and get a back copy. Good luck!! [:)]
I’ve used Atlas 100, Peco 100 and Shinohara 83
Atlas is robust, cheap and don’t have double curved turnout.
Peco is Robust, Not -so-cheap and come in many shapes and sizes. I like them as they can take a lot of abuse.
Shinohara are expensive, delicate and have excellent looks.
I have Peco as they are the most readily available at my LHS and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Don,
Buy one of tte Walthers/Shinohara and check it yourself. The Peco is great, but I don’t think they have code 83 curved yet. I have five of the Walthers/Shinohara 30/34 radius turnouts and am in the process of installing them now. Curved turnouts in general have a reputation for being finicky. I know several of my friends have some difficulty with them from time to time. I expect to have to do some fine tuning. I would be leery of a track plan calling for 40 of them!!!
