Has anyone bought from here?

I’m looking at purchasing some items and ran across Wholesaletrains.com while surfing different places to buy MRR items. Has anyone ever heard of them or done business with them? Their prices are fairly low compaired to others and I was wondering if it is a come and get me or what.

John

Isn’t this the same company that was the topic of voluminous derogatory comments and complaints about poor service, non-shipment of items, etc. a few months ago?

Check back through the forums using the search term wholesaletrains and see what pops up.

Chuck,

No, I think that’s Internettrains.com or something like that.

John,

I bought my Bachmann E-Z Command from Wholesaletrains.com about 3 years ago and saved nearly 50% off MSRP. My guess is that they are just a big warehouse. So don’t expect them to really have a knowledgeable staff about the product.

Even so, delivery was quick. I had the E-Z Command in about 3-4 days.

I am looking at that site now, the prices do look ok, “N Scale”, but I have not heard from anyone that has in fact bought anything from them, in order to get a biggewr discount and to become a “memeber” you have to purchase $200 or more to quilify as a member…

If you use plastic to place your order, or paypal, either one will come good if you find that you have come out the loser on a deal with a disreputable dealer. I have perused wholesale trains’ site once or twice, and if they are not legit, they have gone to a lot of trouble to fool the buyer.

I suggest sending an email, finding out if paypal is okay, or trust your card company to reverse a bad charge if that should befall you. I doubt it will in this case.

That was Internettrains.com eveyone was complaining about.

I do believe this was the one that had a lot of complaints. internettrains was so-so to a little bit shy of ok…slow as all get out, but they eventually get the product to you…chuck

I have purchased many items from Wholesale Trains and have been very satisfied. Their turnaround time is good and the merchandise is first-rate. I’ve ordered a PCM GN S2 steam loco from them. Unfortunately it’s backorderd (PCM’s fault) but they keep me informed of my order status which I appreciate.

I am also a customer of wholsale trains. I pre-order most of my BLI stuff there. They have a flat fee for shipping and if an item is back ordered they will send what they have and send the backorder later and not charge the shipping again. You can call them too and they seem very nice. I ordered one of those fance Atlas cabooses, you know the ones with all the detail that sell for 24-36 dollars on Ebay. Well any way i got it for $16 at that store. Very nice store gora small budget.

Yeah, sorry guys, it is internettrains.com that has the problems, not wholesale.

I have bought several things from these guys and most of the time they have the best prices. If you do buy something here, it should be fine. It does take a couple of days for them to ship items though.

My apologies to Wholesaletrains.com, since they are apparently not the store that everyone was complaining about.

Hi guys,

Wholesaletrains.com is NOT, I repeat NOT NOT NOT the company all the complaints were about.

They ship as fast as they can. Each item’s description tells you when the item usually ships (number of days). If it on their shelves, it can go that or the next day.

Their prices are great!

They are NOT just a big warehouse. They do have a brick and mortar store in Horseheads NY (near Elmira/Corning). MY only complaint is that in the store nothing is price labled.

They are an hour away from me…so do I spend $$ on gas to go there, or order and pay $$ for shipping. If the item(s) are available that day, I drive and see what else they may have lurking around. If it a 1-3 day or 3-5 day shipping item, I order. I CAN if I want order it and go pick it up at the store. If I order next day stuff, it is on my doorstep the next day. If I order the longest it has taken was 5 days for a 3-5 day ship item.I have never done a pre-order item with them so I do not know how they handle those sales. I assume with the same integrity as other sales.

Any problems or questions were handled responsibly via phone.

Of course I DO have the advantage that I can just go there to complain!

I hate to see them get dragged through the mud because of that OTHER company.

Just a quick thanks to every one for the info, it helped alot[:D]

John; I ordered an Athearn Challenger from them. It only took a week to get across the US to me. It was well worth the price. I look forward to doing business with them again.

I have purchased from this company and everything was very satisfactory. This is NOT the trouble site called Internet Trains.

I have bought from Wholesale Trains in the past. I went to their store in Horsehead, N.Y. and I have also bought mail order. Either way I found everyone to be helpful and courteous. I would buy from them again.

I’ve placed several orders with them over the last year, with only one minor to me blemish…An Item that showed as in stock on the site was not in stock. To their credit, I was notified of the problem and honestly told that there was no due-date, and the item was dropped from the order without charge being charged for it and having to go through a credit process. Satisfied customer here.
