Has anyone bought from this Ebay Seller - Scenery Items

Has anyone purchased any of this guys stuff? His prices are nice, his Feedback is good especially considering the volume he does, but I’m still a bit reluctant.

He offers large quantities of cars and painted figures also. My gut feeling is those are probably multiples of a small number of separate items. But they might be good as fillers in a city scene.

Has anyone tried him?

Mike Tennent

No I have not bought from this seller. I have purchased surveillance equipment from a number of sellers in Hong Kong though. I have always been very happy.

This sellers feedback is excellent considering his volume. The complaints he does have seem to be honest errors and miscommunications mixed with over-impatient buyers who expected items to arrive over night from over seas…go figure. I would’nt expect great communication judging by some of the feedback. Maybe try asking him a question or two about the items and see if he replies? Don’t expect him to combine shipping cause he probably won’t. It looks good. Not sure why you are still reluctant unless it’s because he is in Hong Kong? Don’t take this as an attack on my freinds to the South but the few issues I have had myself on eBay, involved US sellers. The guys I have dealt with in Hong Kong, Austrailia, Great Britain, Canada, etc. have all been excellent sellers and buyers. Again! Not saying US eBayers are worse than in any other place, just stating my experience. It may be simply because of the plethora of US eBayers out there, as compared to everybody else. [:)]

Oh yeah! BUYER BEWARE ETC. ETC. ETC.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I use a couple of suppliers from Hong Kong, found thru Ebay, so that’s not the cause for reluctance.

Just wondering if the quality is up there. Given the positive feedback (I also looked at the details and agree the few negatives seemed to be routine business misunderstandings) I’ll probably try a small number to find out. Not much risk.

Hi i have made a few purchases from that seller alwasy got good items… Hobojim

Thanks, hobojim,

I’m in N scale and mostly interested in the people and trees. The cars are a bit too modern.

If you’ve bought the figures… the pics indicate that there are 10 or so different types. True? And are the clothing colors realistic? They look a little “loud” in the pics, but that could just be the pics.

Hey Mike,

I did notice a few instances where neutral feedback was given that seemed to indicate some dissatisfaction with the items received. Perhaps the quality is hit and miss to some extent?

Like I say. Ask the seller some questions about the stuff you are after. That may make the decision for you.

Hope you get some good deals! [tup]

Eleven negs is all I need to see; I wouldn’t buy anything from him.

I used to feel that way too. Right up until the first time I received retalliatory negative feedback from a person who I left a negative for. At least one of the people who left this guy a negative rating followed it up by saying how “stupid he was for leaving feedback without waiting long enough for the item to arrive.” I also noted a number of mutaully withdrawn ratings, indicating that the two parties worked out their differences.

A lot of times I have investigated the feedback for the ebayer who left the negative feedback and found that their feedback was riddled with negative feedback regarding what an unreasonable person they were etc. I’m not saying anyone SHOULD buy from this guy. I’m just saying there are two sides to ever story.

Once again. BUYER BEWARE! [:)]

Just a quick thought thinking that 11 negs is enough to stop buying from him or not using him at all. Just think of the stores you go to. Now lets say its the local hobby shop. They may return say 12-20 items a week. (ok smaller one) Now say only one makes a bad comment. Now he has sold 2100+ items. By that same token you see those comments. It is all relative. You can look at those items and see. Yes I agree some you dont want to work with but there are some that are folks who wanted it yesterday and not the 12-16 days that it would take to get to you. I know I have ordered stuff from London (UK) and it has taken sometimes 3 weeks to get to me and I live in Ohio.

Think about what your saying to folks. Now there are several (ok maybe hundreds) of railroad sites on ebay and there are plenty to buy from. But to say that about one that you have no idea about is well ignorant.

Out of 2100+ transactions?

Wow, with that standard, I wouldn’t expect to see you buy anything from anyone, anywhere.

Hi Mike well the stuff i got was more for Ho am glad i got it hough was best prices i found i see people comenting on negsatives well basicly unless youNEVER EVER GIVE A NEG you wont recive them i think that whole feedback system needs to be canned myself as its more fiction than good lol thats just my 2 cents… hobojim

I always check a seller’s feedback before I bid. If the seller has some negatives I read them to see what the dissatisfaction was. If it is a “item not here” I check the date of the feedback and then check the listing to see when the auction ended. I’ve seen people complain about not getting an item 3 or 4 days after the auction ended. On the other hand I’ve seen the complaint happen several weeks after the auction ended. I think 11 out of a couple thousand seems like pretty good odds, but each person must make their own decision.

Call it ignorant all you want. Bottom line; I’ve been on eBay for years, buying and selling. I have not had one bad transaction, and a large part of that is because of my “ignorant” approach.

Eleven negs (in the last year) are there for a reason, and I’d bet a valid one.

But hey, it’s your money, knock yourself out.

Quite the contrary actually.

Fwiw, eBay will investigate and delete a neg comment you receive that you feel was unjustified, irrelevant, etc.

Just have to ask them. Done it myself, when a guy (who eBay later booted) left me such a neg.

I just bought 350 trees for $31.00 and 100 street lights for $22.00 from brakespad99 another seller from China. I had considered trees from this seller but chose brakespad becuse of the quantity he offered. I have to say they were superb. He had a negative feedback but I feel that this alone does not make me one of those buyer beware guys. I have bought over 300 items on ebay and have yet to have a single problem. Some of the sellers had some negatives. The fact that I have 100% positive feedback does not make me feel I am better than one who may have a negative.

You have to be aware that some people give negatives because that is their nature to do so. Not everybody can be pleased every time all of the time and some do not take the time to truly research what they are buying.

That could change tomorrow. And it wouldn’t necessarily be your fault.

Highly unlikely; hasn’t happened in nine years

Thanks for the helpful replies from those who actually addressed my inquiry.

Unfortunately it seems to be turning into yet another eBay seller bashing so it’s probably best to go ahead and end the thread. [sigh]

Happy New Year to all.
