Has anyone contacted Preiser directly (using English)?

Have a preiser figure set (the Railroad freight house workers kit with pallet jacks and freight workers - one of the key pallet jack sprues is missing) that I ordered via Walthers months ago (and forgot to check when it originally arrived - dang it, past me!).
OK, I found their website & contact info here (sure wasn’t easy to find neither). However, my knowledge of German is sadly quite minimal, and bable-fish probably wouldn’t cut it for translation (I don’t want the folks at Preiser rolling on the floor laughing at butchered idioms) - so has anyone e-mailed them in English and got a reasonable response?
How about via snail mail (I could translate their addresses, and use a postage calculator to figure out the correct postage - but would they read it and respond?)
Any experiences? Thanks.

Most businesses in Europe that sell stuff outside their own country will be able to do business both in their native language and in English, and quite possibly in a couple of other languages as well.

E.g. the company I work for over here in Norway, with about 200 employees, communicates with customers and/or suppliers in Norwegian, Swedish, English, German and Dutch.

Come to think of it, I happen to know that we also have employees who speak Welsh, Icelandic and Urdu. Probably a couple of other languages as well. But AFAIK, we don’t communicate with any customers or suppliers in any of those languages (at least not yet)

Anyways - just write Preisser in English. They will understand your email.

Stein

(Obs! satire!)

I would not recommend that you contact them, they are Germans and as such can be offended if you try to make contact without writing in perfect german. They have started wars for less! [swg]

Jokes aside, I would actually just mail them in English, as we in Europe do have a rather good understanding of English nowadays. If you don´t get any answer I bet that if you PM some of the german members of this Forum, I think they could do a reasonable translation for Preisers customer service.

Good luck, regards; Michael

Hi “Chutton”

We just discovered your post about the missing parts in your Preiser figure set, #590-16348. As Walthers is the North American distributor, please call our customer service department at 1-800-487-2467 or email us at custserv@walthers.com and we’ll be glad to help you.

Your friends at Walthers

For anyone wanting to email in another language, go to Bing and search for translator. You will find a translator page where you can copy, paste, or write your message in any language you want. Then just copy and paste it to your email to send. I’ve been using this to copy and paste Ebay pages in German and French. It works great and now i know what they are talking about. Translated a few messages and left some feedback in other languages. No download needed.
