I was looking on the internet for RR schools and one was the AMDG school. Has anyone heard of this school? and how was it? Thanks for your help!
AMDG handles conductor training for CSX. Cost for the 5-week course is $4,250. (not including hotel/meal costs during the training) They usually hold classes 2-3 times a year, depending on the demand for conductors. I can’t say how it is since I’m still sitting by the phone waiting for them to call me in. (geez, I don’t even work for the RR yet, and I’m already sitting around waiting for a call!!!)

I went through AMDG’s program about a year ago. Yes, anb740 is right on the cost. You have two different locations you can go to. One is in Cincinnati, the other in Atlanta. I believe geography comes in to place as to which “campus” you would go to. Most of it is classroom with a little hands on out in a railyard and then a day behind the faciility climbing on cars, etc. Review your class notes daily after class and before your quiz each morning and you’ll do great. Also, knock the signal test out immediately it takes a huge weight off your chest to get it done quickly, you can even study before you go to school because they have the signals available online. Show up on time, that’s imporatant as well. During the inteview with the CSX reps, make sure to be professional and enthusiastic. Talk about shift/night experience, outdoor experience, and safety practices. You’ll make a few friends and you’ll wanna have a good time, just behave yourself because if you do something stupid and CSX finds out you’re DONE.
