Cool I’m hopin i can get into MR some times[:)]

I hand lay track

Someday I will be featured in Model Railroader. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in the next fiver years, but it WILL happen. And, no I don’t handlay track.

I have hand laid track in the past. Being featured in MR is not one of my goals in life.

Tom

I have Hand laid some track on a past layout, but I’m only planning it in one place on this layout so I can have a smaller code on a couple of sidings. The track has gotten more realistic with tie plates and scale spikes. I can’t really do better with handlaid.
Enjoy

I haven’t done any of the thing you ask for, but I surely intend to be on MR… just you wait until my pike is finished (mwahahaha!)

,No

Maybe sime day I’ll be featured in the magazine, I’m sure you guys would all like to see the face of one female modelers [:D], but there’s no way I will ever hand lay tracks, there are much other things to do on a layout to get my attention.

My railroad hasn’t been in Model Railroader but it has been in Craftsman and the Journal. I do handlay most of my track. The only exceptions were a few sidings that were hard to reach and a curved switch that I didn’t feel like building at the time.
Why are you asking?

John Slean

I’ve been published by MR. Some years ago I wrote an article titled “Beyond Railscope.”

Some years … man, that was a long time ago! I’M GETTIN’ OLD!!

Sometimes you have to learn to crawl before you can run…and get yourself into other publications before you get into MR… mark my words… a hint of things to come. [8D]

no and no

Only when they become really desperate. And no, I don’t handlay track.

No and yes our club has some hand layed track on part of our layout

I’m asking becuase I’ve wondered for awhile whos been in MR and I had to Handlay a short section on track on a trestle.

I have not been in MR… hopefully after I retire from the USAF and own a basement (with a nice house on top of course) and get my layout going, Ill be in MR.

I do handlay track, all of it. I used to use flextrack, but I found I can detail handlaid track much more than plastic (this is just MY observation, I have nothing against flextrack or those who use it). I had Tim from handlaidtrack.com make a tie laying jig for me, works great. I also have a #8 turnout template from him as well, another fine tool. I used many references to learn how to handlay track, and my first attempts were, well, lets just say it could pass for an abandoned line. But now that I got the hang of it, I dont see me ever going back to flex track. If you are an N scaler, check out some back issues of N Scale Magazine. For HO or N, backissues of Model Railroading have some great info as well. I also used Kalmbach’s Trackwork and Lineside Details book (some great ideas in there for details).
