Some folks have begun to complain that they have not been receiving their email notifications that they have a pm waiting for them. I have consistently and reliably gotten them until just yesterday. However, other members were reporting problems of that nature earlier on the weekend.
Two things, please, by way of assistance to us: check your private messages. There is a link just under your own user name, to the right, in main forum page that says, in blue, “private messages”. Click on that and you may be dismayed/surprised to see that you have one or a dozen unanswered.
Secondly, please add your name to this thread if you find you have not been receiving them and if you know you have received them in the recent past because your profile settings have that function checked (go into your profile, scroll down and see at the bottom which circles have the dot signifying that you do or do not want email notifications).
Thanks for helping us out.
This will stay sticky for only three days, by which I expect to get a good sense of how pervasive the problem is.
It has been several months since I’ve gotten an e-mail notification of a private mailing. In that time I’ve gotten several. Edit: based on my files, it was probably early December when I stopped getting notifications.
I have more than enough, my friend, and am willing to share should you feel the need. Whether it comes from whiners, name-callers, single-digit IQs, wannabe lawyers, amateur Constitutional scholars or those who have been abducted by aliens, it’s all pretty dadgum entertaining. [(-D]
Beyond a possible private message problem, I used to receive e-mails indicating there was a new post in a topic I had previously posted to. These discontinued a couple of weeks ago. It does not seem to matter what I do to my profile; they remain missing. I found that to be a useful feature, and I miss it.
This is the first I have seen anything about pm’s. And even after all the instructions on how to find the spot to check for them, I still don’t see it. Only thing I have over there is Faq, Update Profile, and Logout.
Dewey, you need to close this particular thread and look at the big thread menu. (the one you look at to decide if you really want to open a thread or not) Check that same area on that menu.
Thanks, Mookie. I messed that up in the first post. [:I] Since corrected to reflect that the user will find it on the list of forums, or on the forum main page where all the current thread titles are listed.
