Has anyone out there besides me ever bought a particular piece of rolling stock or a loco off of eBay, then a few days later see one you like even better and buy it also, then you’re stuck with the first one you bought ?. I’ve got several items here in my desk drawer that I ended up with that way… (Like the old saying goes - A fool and his money are soon parted.)
Well, not Ebay, but train shows. I got a couple of dozen cars that I bought in my first few years before I really figured out the whole “prototype era” thing. One of these days I will get a table and sell them to someone else.
Hahaha…unfortunately that’s what comes with the hobby and for any hobby for that matter of fact…my situation is even worse, I also collect die-cast casrs and airplanes and I have boxes and boxes of them sitting under my bed…if those CSI guys ever come and visit my place, I will get classified as a ‘serial killer’ or some sort of description of that kind.
And so often this would happen: 'Honey, come bed, what are you still doing up?" and I replied ‘Ok honey, be right there, just got some work to tidy up (waiting for this darn auction to finish)’. LOL
I am trying to get rid of some though…some that has lesser collector’s value…because I am now building my second N layout which will be about 8’X5’. Just got the secnd bench up…long way to go…way behind schedule! I think I was supposing to be doing landscaping this week! LOL
One solution is to donate the ones that you do not want to your favorite model RR club so they can sell them at shows as a fundraising project. If your RR club puts the word out at the LHS in the area, donations may follow. I volunteer at the Boothbay Railway Village in Maine, and in the past few years we have been fortunate to have a number of donations of equipment and entire layouts. A couple of them were converted into raffle layouts.
I’ve never met a freight car I didn’t like. I’ve never met a freight car I didn’t like. I’ve never met a freight car I didn’t like.
Now, kind of chant it in a monotone for about five minutes or so, sitting on the floor in the middle of your model train room, hands spread, eyes closed.
