Having Trouble Finding "TRAINS" at newstand..

Barnes&Noble have it as well as Borders but everywere else its a tough find
How do I convince newstands to carry it?

I didn’t think there were too many “newstands” around “Hobo” jungles!

If you have a real-mail address, why not just subscribe?

I can only get it at Hastings here in Rock Springs.

You would do better looking in hobby stores than places like Barnes & Noble. If book stores do carry it, they don’t get many copies, and if you don’t get there right away when they come out, they’re gone.

Hobby stores are often located in low rent neighborhoods, so finding one near the tracks shouldn’t be too hard. I suppose it would be impossible to have a subscription sent to a box car.[swg]

Big-Boy,you are probably very correct;the U.S.P.S. would have trouble forwarding
them all the time[swg][:D]

General newstands in or near passenger train stations tend to carry Trains. I’ve seen it on sale at Philadelphia, Newark, Los Angeles…

Back in the 1960s and continuing into the early 1980s one could find Trains and MR as well as R&R and RMC at general interest news stands including those at airports but also at food stores and drug stores. I imagine at least some people first had their interest created that way by seeing an intriguing cover photo. Then that seemed to stop and what exactly the reason is I cannot say, except there seems to be more magazines of all sorts these days and a lot of them aimed at men and boys have gone the, ahem, Maxim route rather than the “sience/mechanical things/adventure” route that could include trains and model trains.

Okay then how would Maxum cover trains?

I have noticed too that TRAINS is getting harder to find. I am Canadian and for years could find it at Walmart or Zellers,(like Target). But now I have to go to variety stores that sell like every magazine there is to find it!!! I did have a mail subscription once, but for Canadians it is way too expensive plus half the issues were damaged when I got them. I have also noticed that the issues are little skinnier lately aswell! Is TRAINS magazine in trouble?!?

I don’t frequently buy Trains (the campus library gets it), but most places that sell magazines in these parts seem to have it on the rack. THe only places I can think of off the top of my head that didn’t are Wal-Mart and teh campus bookstore. Even the off-campus privately owned bookstores that cater to college students seem to carry it.

Subscribe or buy Trains at your local hobby shop.I would rather spend my money at a hobby shop anyway. You never know what else you will find.[:)]

I got a subscription because it never seems to be around in the grocery stores.

I remember when I was little my mom would always buy it at the same time when she bought groceries, but I never see it in those stores anymore.

Maybe it’s so popular that they can’t keep it on the shelves!

I got my start after seeing a MR & Trains magazine at a K Mart… Tis’ a pity that they aren’t sent out so widespread anymore.

The store at the mall has Trains and model railroader but you actually save if you subscribe and the customer service people are very friendly.
