Having your model railroad on a convention tour

Well for the first time I got to exhibit my Tonopah & Tidewater RR for visitors. The PCR convention is in Reno and my layout is on the tour. First night was yesterday and it was really fun. As always, the track acts like I have never cleaned it despite being cleaned the day before, and the Digitrax acted occasionally like it was posessed. Everyone was very polite and we had a number of good conversations about Nevada railroads and modeling techniques. If you ever get asked to show you modeling for a show or convention jump at it- it is worth doing. - Nevin

Would you mind sharing some pictures of your layout and a few details? Far as guest coming over, yeah that the way it goes!

Good you got your feet wet, now you will want to show everytime something is going on. I showed the first time in the 70’s and have been on tour for NMRA nationals, region and local group tours, also Santa Fe modelers since then. Have never had a bad experience, no damage, nothing missing, just a good experience. Plus you get to meet some of the biggies who will always give you advice. I have had several of them visit over the years, including good ole Andy S, who was actually helpful in solving a switching problem with a yard I was having, and then shot photos for the Model Railroader mag on my behalf to help publicize an upcoming NMRA national. A great experience if you don’t mind the occasional horses patooty giving you all his advice in one sitting.
