Looks like old Flatbottom has to find himself a new engineer, the old one’s decertified!
Did he fall asleep at the throttle? Have some girl in the cab joining the rolling thunder club? Get so absorbed in an arguement with the fireman that he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing? Was he so likkered up that his relexes wouldn’t let him stop in time?
The press is pressing for the answer to this horrible incident! They can’t sell papers without some definitive sort of headlines like “drunken engineer runs train off end of line!”
Will the wrecking crew be able to salvage the equipment? Surely the sudden uptake at the end caused damage! Is the RbFSRy going to suffer irreparable financial damage due to this incident?
The world has a multitude of questions about this disaster!

Yes they would…read on another forum, apparently after the dip, they simply dried out the engine for a day or so, and kept right on running it…
