Heads up CN and UPRR fans.

The UPRR will begin Eastbound Detours on the CN Railway From June 16th to the 23rd. And from July 1st to the 7th. The Detours begin in Council Bluffs to Arion. Allan.

Where the heck is Arion?

Arion is 5 minutes west of Denison. On the UP Boone sub. Once the Eastbounds get to Arion. They will contact the UP Dispatcher on Ch 52,160.890MHZ.

UP are running thier Trains right now. I hear them now on my Scanner. If you are near the line, the Frequency is AAR 72. 161.190MHZ. Allan.

They started running today to help familiarize the pilots with radio blocking procedures. Some trains detoured, I know some went the short way thru Blair. The pilots are UP. Some are engineers, some are Managers of Operating Practices, known elsewhere as road foremen or travelling engineers.

The scanner will only do you good at either end of the CN/IC. In between they normally use cell phones to communicate between trains. This is because if the distance between trains is too much, radios won’t always reach.

I have heard the daily volume of trains to be 28 to 32 trains a day. At least until the coal trains destroy the track.

Thanks for the info.
