Comming back brom Sandpoint last Thursday, just East of The DalIes I passed a UP unit with three passenger cars, the rear car was a Budd UP coach (stainless with the yellow stripe above the windows), a DRGW sleeper dome (ex CZ), another car and the unit. I was trying to stay on the road and dodge the gawkers so that is all the info I have. It was Westbound and just walking along.
Do any of the other “Foamer Forums” have anything on this move?
From what I understand it was an Operation Lifesaver (?) train which was run to educate law enforcement on how to enforce trespassing laws on railroad property. The poster stated that it ran on the BNSF to West Wishram and crossed over the Columbia river and headed back on the UP.
Another poster said that the train had a BNSF unit on the east end of the train and a UP unit on the west end.
I know how you feel. If I would have known that they were going to load an ALCO switcher on a flatcar last week, and not too far away, I could have gone to watch that.
Boy, I had a great laugh when I saw your last two posts! Sorry I didn’t get to post it earlier. When they head back east again we’ll see about posting it sooner.

I’m with all who missed it. Had i known when it was leaving Omaha i would have gone to see it. That [censored] company doesn’t tell their employees anything.
So, Talking to a guy in the model RR club I belong to, His account was this: Apparently, he was headed into town from the oilfield and he noticed that there were trains backed up all the way between Rawlins and RS, so he figured that in the UP’s infinite wisdom that they had dumped one over somewhere past RS. He then proceeded to the BC&W clubhouse which is rightnext to the tracks on downtown RS, as he was working on a locomotive around 5:30(note the Green River stop time above) and he heard a train so he got up to see what was going on, he looked and saw a blue and green streak followed by a bagillion passenger cars, then the freight traffic resumed.
Is there approximate times that it will arrive here?
