Yesterday i was at my local hardware store to buy some more layout timber and i was speaking to a worker there and the subject of model railways came up.He mentioned that a chap he knows was building a layout using hebel blocks(aerated concrete) for his mountains. As that got me thinking with the minimal weight for the size of these blocks and with a bit of shaping there was no reason why they could’nt be used. Your thoughts please
Sounds difficult and heavy to me. When styrofoam is so cheap, easy and looks so good, why not???
Maybe the person is building an outdoor G-scale layout and needs something that would be weatherproof, but for indoor use I would stick with styrofoam and plaster.
