[:)]My wife and I just bought a new house here in Florida and she gave me the green light to begin building my model railroad on one side of the garage. I’m designing it as a wrap around the wall with a loop at each end, and is being based on a CSX coal train indusrial siding here in Orlando. After a lot of research and many visits to the hobby shop for advice I’m excited to get started!!! I look forward to visiting this forum often for advice and contributions.
Welcome! I’m glad your starting your railroad. More railroads into the modeling world. So are you an HO scaler or another scaler. HO is my thing and I’m modeling the Milwaukee Road’s Western Division. Nice to have new people to the forums.

Welcome. You can pick up a lot of info in these forums. I tend to just sit back and listen, since I am new at it myself.

Happy Railroading.[swg][swg]
I’ll be modeling in HO due to the availability of supplies and cheaper prices. I’m on a hobby budget probably like most of you out there so I can only progress alittle at a time. I did get lucky and recieve most of my benchwork wood from the ongoing building here in our new sub development. The contracters let me have my pick of all I needed.
Welcome abaord.

Like novicerr, On30Shay and howmus said, you’r question’s will be answered.
how wide of a shelf are you planing? and what type of layout are you going to be doing? (ex: Switching Ground, Switching yard, Main line, etc.)
Welcome. You have questions. We have answers. Sometimes they even go together. While you are friendly with the contracter, get all the blue and pink foam scraps they will give you. You can never have too much when you get to scenery. Let the fun begin.
Welcome! You get lots f stuff from the forum, answers, questions, opinions, history, and most important…ideas. Have fun

Welcome to the forum!![#welcome]
Thanks for all the welcome replies guys. Buy the way, how many hours a week on average do ya all spend on your layouts?
Welcome to the forums joeg252. I don’t know how to answer how many hours I spend on the layout. Since when I’m not physically working on it I am thinking about working on it and that should count. Phil.
Welcome and let me invite you to visit many of the forums as not all folks visit every forum. There are lots of ideas in all the venues and they can be utilized in modeling and general interest in trains.
Sounds like you’re starting with a plan and that’s always a good idea before actually starting construction. Less frustrration and expense that way.
I usually spend around 10 hours a week on the layout. Sometimes more, sometimes less. For me this is a winter time hobby. I seldom do anything on it in the summer months.
Joe, since they are letting you pick up scraps, make sure you get any of the foam board insulation scraps that they leave if it is used in FL? I assume that some sort of insulation against heat is used? This stuff is invaluable when it comes to scenery construction.
