Hello from Oklahoma

After posting to the forum for the first time this weekend (WPF), I noticed things going downhill fast!! Hope that didn’t cause it. [%-)]

Did get more work done on layout. Amazing sometimes how much time is spent doing some painting, building, or working on track, comeback later and look at it and wonder, What did I do?

There’s a lot of skills developed with such a project, learn to scatchbuild something, or taking pictures of your work. The picture part is a big challenge to me, must have taking over 100 pictures by now, and having a hard time finding any worth posting.[sigh]

The layout I’m building is 4’ deep X 9’ long, with door hinges on wall side so it can be lifted up against wall, storing out of way so we can use dining room table. It is HO scale, one outside loop for continunous run, with a inner small town switching area.
And before you say anything, Yea, some parts are a stretch to reach. That’s all right, I have long arms. LOL

Here’s a few shots of it.

First a overall view

Please don’t mistake the actions of one tasteless twerp for forum norm. Usually, even our disagreements are quite civil.

Love your photos. Out here in the Dessicated Desert we actually have prototype towns that look like that! (Not ghost towns - they have inhabitants - but definitely towns full of ghosts.)

[#welcome] welcome to the forum. (sorry you’re on the wrong side of the Red River!..Just joking…LOL) Don’t let the trolls get you to think’in that this site is like that. Once in awhile we get one of those jerks in here, but the MR management usually blocks them out once the word gets out…nice pics!..chuck

[#welcome] Where in OK ? Your layout kinda reminds me of the small towns across the Texas panhandle along I-40 . Most of used to have Sante Fe access. Grain elevators are nice ! Great idea for multi-use of the dining room !

Um… [%-)]

Where is Oklahoma?

What real RR do you have?

[#welcome] anyway [8D]

Nice Pics [:D]

Welcome! [:)] Please don’t judge this place by some of the paint. It is warm and friendly. You might enjoy the benefit of thicker skin a few times over the years, but that is to be expected for all of us on a public forum. We get a lot of compliments from modellers who are also into other hobbies…they say this forum is near the top in terms of courtesy and management.

Good to have you here.

Thanks for the warm Welcome. [8D]

Did grow up in western Oklahoma, lot flat land, some rolling hills, and towns that the tallest building was the elevator. Also made quite a few trips across Texas panhandle into New Mexico. At night You could be running next to a train, see headlight from one miles ahead, and maybe from one behind you. Lots of rail traffic, and feed lots! Can’t miss them, can you! Whew!! [xx(]

I now live in Perry, Ok, about 60 miles north of Oklahoma City. As for real railroads we’ve got BNSF running east- west & BNSF north-south thur here. Not much variety there except for run thur power. UP & NS usually.
