My name is Larry, I have been modeling and collecting trains for about 30 years. I have been a Trains and Model Railroader subscriber for many of those years. I model the BN, Frisco, Burlington Route, SP&S, NP, GN and yes now the BNSF.
I also grew up along to NWP in Sonoma County California and the SP Natron cutoff in Springfield (Hilltop) Oregon, so I am fond of those old SP units, god rest their souls.
I have had 3 layouts in the past, but two of them were snap track designs and somewhat simplistic. I also had a two car garage dream layout, that was never fully completed but still have the some of the track, plans, and all the structures, rolling stock and motive power.
I am planning on incorporating that into my current plan to build in my garage.
I will be asking questions about, layout planning, bench work, wiring and general modeling questions, I have been reading here for awhile. Now I have finally joined and look forward to any advice those may want to share. I have been reading great advice by seasoned modelers who share their expertise and excitement for the hobby.
Welcome, Larry. [#welcome] You are likely to get some great advice from the membership here. Ask away…chances are others looking on will be glad to see the answers themselves. [:)]
[#welcome] Always nice to see another BN fan join the forum! Almost any question you have, it will be answered here by all of the other expert model railroaders that are here on the forums. This is a great place to learn and just have fun! I hope to see some of you’re locomotives and rolling stock because im a huge BN fan myself.
As you have been following the forum for a while, you know we’re mostly friendly, and most but not all knowledgable!! Take us with a grain of salt and enjoy!![:)]
There are alot of good people pn here. They know there stuff. Wiring, weathering, track plans, engine problems, etc. I learn something new on here each day.
I’ve been playing with trains since the '50s, and have found this Forum to be a wonderful place to ask questions, share knowledge, and just talk about trains. What is especially good is that you have all kinds of folks participating, each with different degrees of experience, preferences, knowledge, and specialties. Actually, “these guys” are responsible for convincing me to go with DCC on my new layout - now under construction. Without their input and assurances, there is no way I would have considered doing so.
Hey, sit back, ask and answer questions, and ENJOY !!!
Hello Larry , welcome to the post .I recently started a Trivia post that is posted every Friday and the answer is given on Monday. I would like to invite you to join in on the Trivia post !
