I’m mmmna, pronounced like you considered it for a while, then decided ‘nah’
I’m familiar with forum software, I am a former administrator of a forum.
I am a fan of steam, but more a fan of exotic steam; for example, I drooled over the turbine based pennsy that never worked out, and I like the shays for their unusual gear drives. I’m also a budding fan of British steam, so much I never knew (those incredible Garretts)!!
I can’t help but be amazed that steam motive equipment started over 2 centuries ago, and some fairly old locomotives can (do) still operate. And that steam recently served useful work in China, South America and Cuba for example.
I’m local to central NH; as a kid, in the late 1960s/early 1970s I remember seeing a small B&M steam loco sitting in the Laconia NH train station… I could hear the water boiling gently, I felt the heat coming off that engine. It was a cool autumn day and someone at the station was asking one of the train crew why the diesel wasn’t pulling the train… 'because the surprise frost last night gelled all their fuel… they couldn’t get a loco warmed up enough in time for this run…". Steam had a last laugh!!
