Help finding HO Athearn ARMN/UP 57' Mechanical Reefer

Can anyone suggest where I might be able to find some HO Athearn 57’ Mechanical Reefers in the white UP livery with ARMN reporting marks? According to the Athearn website, this road name was introduced in 2004, but is now discontinued.

I’ve poked around on some of the on-line seller’s websites and searched on ebay with no luck. Is there a ‘models wanted’ message board someplace or a vendor with a great selection of discontinued Athearn I could try?

I could use 8 or 10 of these.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Charlie

First-seep sigh-good luck finding them…Sadly these cars are discontinue…Your best bet will be train shows and hobby shops in smaller cities.

You could try here as well.

eBay has a feature where you post what you are looking for. I’m currently using it to find out what models are going for so when I offer them later I can have an idea what I might get for them. I get several e-mails a week from eBay telling me a similar item is being auctioned.

A google search for Athearn Item 71142 only turned up one and it’s at a hobby shop in Switzerland. Only bad feature is that it’s US $25 plus about $25 for airmail shipping after converting Swiss francs to US dollars. Here’s a link to their website if you’re weathy http://www.oldpullman.ch/oldpullman_data/athearn_rtr_gueterwagen.html

Athearn makes undecorated reefers (5460) and Microscale makes decals for them. If you cannot find any, buy some undecorated cars, then paint and decal them.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I overlooked the Microscale Decal for this car - I didn’t scroll down far enough in the list on the Microscale site. Looks like I’ll be decorating my own cars. On the other hand, I’ve always wanted to see Switzerland. . . .

The Microscale set is MC4403. Walthers lists it as out of stock and unknown when it will be in. Microscale no longer list it on its website. However, it does list the N scale version (60-4403) on the bottom of the UP page. This is exactly what is going on with a decal set I am trying to get (87-680). I sent Microscale an e-mail a couple of days ago asking if this set is still being made. I have not received a reply.
