Hi, I’m modelling the Maine Eastern F40PHs #265 & #291, and I wanted to know what colors the Green and Orange in the paint scheme are? Would it be Harvest Gold and Pine Green by any strange coincidence[:D]? I also would like to know the size and print type of the “Maine Eastern”, since I have been having a VERY difficult time[:(!] finding letter decals to match it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated[:D]!! Thanks in advance for any info[bow].
No replies yet, just hoping to get it seen again. Hope this doesn’t offend anyone[:D]
I doubt anyone has come out with decals for the Maine Eastern FP40h’s yet. If it helps, here’s a link to a picture of the units. http://www.merail.com/mid-coast_service.htm. The green looks similar to MEC green and the gold striping could be Harvest Yellow, but then I came to Maine well after Gulford took over.
Andre
Andre,
I won’t hold my breath waiting for anyone to make a Maine Eastern decal set, ever[;)]! I just sent an e-mail to the Pres of the M&E RR to ask him these questions. Thanks for the link[:)]. I’ve been trying unsucessfully to get accurate measurements from those pictures, and the 30 or so photos I have taken myself[:(][sigh][sigh][sigh]
Thanks again for the link[:D].
You might try to see if Pen Bay Decals will make you some custom decals. They make New England decals on an ALPS printer. I don’t have their website in my bookmarks, but try the Eastern Maine Model Railroad Club’s website as it has or used to have a link:

There’s a bit of irony, there Bob. I joined the EMMRC late last spring. I think one of the members (can’t remember his name) runs Pen-Bay. There’s a meeting tonight, but since the wife and I are preparing for our trip back to CA for the winter, I won’t be attending. Wi***his question had come up a week ago. I could have asked one of the other members when I went to the meeting.
OTOH, I could just email the one member whose email address I do have and see if he can get the information for mainecentral229. 'Course, it could turn out to be expensive since the major work is the artwork and the set up.
OK. That’s done. Will post answer when I get it.
Andre
Andre: It’s Brad Libby of the club who makes the ALPS decals. I have his personal e-mail address, drop me a line if you’d like it privately.

Try Highball Graphics. I didn’t see one on their site, but they do a lot of NE railroads and might have something in work. Drop them a line and see. If anyone is going to do so, I probably will be these guys.
I knew I was asking the right bunch of people!!![:D] I followed both FundyNorthern & dharmon’s links ,and sent e-mail to both places. I haven’t heard from either place yet, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that they will help me out. Thanks a bunch!!![bow]
If you want to contact Brad Libby at Pen-Bay decals, email him at libby911@midmaine.com. He does the decals and artwork for all the custom cars for the Eastern Maine Model Railroad club.
Andre
Andre, thanks for the address, I had already found it ,but he hasn’t replied yet. Although Highball Grapghics replied with a reasonable price, I am still anxious to hear from Brad to see what he has to say. Thanks again. You guys have all been very helpful![bow][tup]
You’re welcome. BTW, whereabouts in Maine are you located? I’m about 5 miles from Albion and about 20 from Waterville.
Andre
Andre, I live in Phippsburg, on the way to Fort Popham.(15 min from Brunswick, 15 min from Wiscasset)
Andre, Brad e-mailed me back to tell me he will be releasing exactly what I was looking for, but not until around January 1st. Hmmmmm… Can I wait that long??? LOL
[tup]Thanks again to everyone for everything!! [tup]
Cool…I used to live in Topsham.
Cool, where are you now dharmon?
Looks like Floquil Pine Green and Antique White/Buff would do the job for you nicely as far as paint…the decals should have the Harvest gold&red striping.
You could paint the shells now and wait for the decals…I would suggest painting the entire shell with Antique White/Buff first (use a oil enamel based paint) then use water based acrylic Floquil Pine Green after masking off the white. This will prevent color bleeding. (Oil and water don’t mix)
Minuteman, thanks[tup] for the input, I will keep that in mind when I finish installing heat in my shed, so I can use my airbrush on a regular basis.
Looks like your in luck …
San Diego area. I was stationed at Brunswick a couple of times. Used to watch the Maine Coast RS11 pull covered hoppers down to the Dragon plant in Rockland.
