I have a k-line gondola that I had to cut the brass rivet off to get the broken truck off of it. the best I can measure this is 1/8" wide and 7/16" long with the ends slightly mushroomed to hold in place. Any ideas and yes it needs to be that long to get thru car and truck to hold in place. I’m actually thinking it has to be about 9/16" long as need to mushroom. I thinking maybe I can find some brass tubing somewhere and cut it with the dremel. Does this sound like what I might need to do?
Use a screw.
There are two places that come to mind when you need a part like this: Skycraft in Winter Park, Florida and McMaster Carr. Skycraft is a surplus place but if you can describe the rivet accurately enough, they may be able to help you. McMaster has everything that has ever been made. http://www.mcmaster.com/ You might also consider using a machine screw and an elastic stop nut. That is easier to put together and you don’t run the chance of breaking anything. Bruce Baker
Try Train Tender. He seems to have a large selection of tubular rivets, and other types too.
I got some from him to put a truck back on a Marx gondola.
Try a .22cal shell
They make great rivets

Try the Robert Grossman Company. He keeps a lot of such items for Marx trains, including eyelet tools for setting these things. Nice guy and ships quick. 216-738-0602
