Help, I put a MRC Mini decoder in Spectrum 2-8-0

I installed the decoder and the loco runs but no sound. What am I doing wrong?

I have a MRC Mini decoder #1643 The loco came with an 8 pin socket. If a loco is DCC Ready would I still need to isolate the motor?

No, the motors are isolated. What type of speaker did you install?

And people wonder why I’ll go miles out of my way to avoid an MRC decoder.[xx(]

[:D] Wooo Hooo!!! I got it figured out!! I got My Consolidation Running in DCC mode with all the Bells and whistles!! Ain’t Model Railroading Fun!!!

All I had to do was go to the right CV and turn on the sound

It is amazing what can happen when you read and follow instructions, First.

just so you know , if the motor wasn’t isolated from the frame it would have blown the decoder and it wouldn’t run at all .

glad to hear you got it working . isn’t sound cool ? [:)]

FWIW as a follow-up, it’s pretty rare to find an engine that’s come out in the last 10-15 years that requires you to isolate the motor, that’s mainly an issue with engines like Athearn BlueBox whose design goes back several decades.
