Help identifying old brass tanks

I just picked these up less than $20 each :O)

is it a filling station for steam??

this one looks like the water tank but it has texaco on it ???

shed

all allegedly brass

your help is appreciated

here is a tank I got last week

mine is missing one of the shed’s on the bottom

tanks ken

Did you get them from ebay, thought I saw them there.

Hard to be sure from the photos, but because of the slim vertical tank the first one looks like it could be a sanding column. The second one is just any riveted storage tank. Could as easily be water as oil or diesel. Whatever you wanted to use it for.

Regards

Ed

rrebell your right I did get it online

egmurphy I dont think the oil is the same tank, oil is too heavy, tank has to be small

but fuel ok

I did try to find that sanding column but nothing like this one

must be an old style

K

Many small railroads made their own sanding columns, so there was no standard design as such.

thanks jeffrey

I appreciate it,

you may just be correct in that there are tons of home made sanders

I was hoping to see a prototype

K

Here is a really nice brass sanding tower. It looks like it is just up your alley.

the price will go up on that

I try to keep them under $30

you think mine is a crude copy of that one

ouch …if it is I got taken

K

I thought you were looking for another one for some reason. It looks like you already scored a good deal, though.

csmith you found a cool one there

mine looks like it may be a european design.

Ken

well I got one of my tanks and as usual it looks like its trash

but you know me I dont give up that easy

hope you enjoy my post

Ken

It isn’t trash, it is just a jewel in the rough!!

looks like it has a string to a gauge on the side maby when the gauge is up the tank is empty and when its down its full, kind of cool

i’ll have to get a shot of the float

oh ya csmith9474 I see what you mean next photo will show a nice shine

K

If you don’t want it, let me know. There is a nice spot on my future layout for it![;)][:)]

Budliner, How much did you say you might want for it? I’m interested. You can contact me at tweet469@bellsouth.net or anytime at (731)738-1367. Thanks & I hope to hear from you. Tweet

hello tweet

starting to look better

I have another on the way tell you what

next one I see I’ll snag it for you, its yours. I don’t need any more

hmm… starting to come around

Ken

Almost all oils have a lower density than water. This is why oil slicks form on the surface of water.

well here is an VERTICAL OIL TANK

looks like it will hold less mass!

but I don’t know for sure

K

been working on the railroad

and I like to post some photos looks like I ran in to a bit of a problem

the tank with this set is an N gauge

what’s the deal you get something for $30 and one of the parts is the wrong gauge ouch

Ken
