Help Keeping Track Clean

Is there a train car that is made just for keeping train track clean? If there is where would I be able to see one and do they work well? Thanks

I use a track cleaning car by Centerline Products. http://www.centerline-products.com/rail_wheel.htm

I put some Goo Gone on the roller for the first pass and then a dry roller. It works good enough that my trains are running great. There may be a better product now on the market, because my cleaner is several years old.

I use the car from North East Trains. We use it on our club layout and have had good results.Replace one of the pads with a scotchbrite pad cut to size.Once a week aound the track in front of the engine keeps the rails clean. If you put it two or three cars in front of the engine it will clean siding tracks. If you use the two pads that come with it with track cleaner on the front one it will clean up really bad track but we find for maintenence the scotchbrite works best.

Here’s my idea, tex. I couldn’t afford some of the fine track-cleaning cars you’ll see advertised in CTT. So I took an old flat, added some ‘weight’ in the form of wooden blocks - since painted - not too much weight since it’s pulled by a light one-motor engine, poked 2 holes through with a screw and cut out a scotchbrite pad that runs right over the track. Works like a charm.

I use the trackman 2000, check it out at

www.trackman2000.com

And also do it by hand with a scotchbrite pad and elbow grease.
