… is this just a realy odd engine , or is it about the ugliest thing ever to run on 2 rails ?
Pretty ugly. I wonder if there’s a real prototype?
I’m trying to figure out if it comes with a motor. Two bills and I think it sits.
If I remember the original didn’t run very long.
All of the above! Wow, I have never seen a steamer like that! Well it’s a good conversation piece![:D] Enjoy!
I believe it was an SP contraption. An early cab forward experiment.
ereimer, there are no ugly Steam Engines. Ugly diseasals, yes. Steam, No! I think it’s kinda cute actually. I would be sure to e-mail the seller to see if it is powered or not at that price.
That is beautiful. I don’t have HOn3 or I would be tempted for my logging branch. You buy one and let us know how it runs.
Didn’t anyone see the prototype photos on the listing!?! Weird, yes, ugly, well, that’s subjective.
Brad
Ray and Art, I’m with you guys. Wish I had that much available this time of the year.
put the crack pipe down and back away slowly…

**Eyes the morning coffee pot and then suspiciously at the sugar and milk…
I read the add and it says that they do sell a motorizing kit for the model
Dark
I kinda like it.
Seems a bit pricey, but thats your your decision, if you like it buy it.
Yes, it was a real engine. There’s a picture of it on page 94 of Narrow Gauge to the Redwoods by A. Bray Dickinson. I have no idea if this book is still in print or not. My copy is pretty old. It’s all about the North Pacific Coast RR.
Yes, it really existed. There is a brief history and a photo of the prototype on the Auction. The Auction states clearly that is offered as an unpowered kit.
The link below is the result of an Amazon search for Narrow Gauge to the Redwoods
Looks like the result of an accident between a McKeen motor car and a small steam loco.
Kinda cute, though.
But then, I like weird stuff!
Darrell, weirdly quiet…for now
Its pretty interesting.
However, I like any Cab-Forward no matter what it looks like!
