I am making changes to the sides of some Walthers Budd coaches and I have some questions.
Is there a trick to removing the sides, or do I need four hands to do it?
What paint is the closest match to the Walthers stainless steel? Floquil Platinum Mist is very close, but the Walthers paint is a bit warmer in colour - is there a way to make Platinum Mist warmer in colour? Is there another paint that is closer?

Platinum is close.
To warm it slightly, you can add colors in the yellow and red family. Experiment on scrap styrene pieces, especially since even the light colored red tints are strong. ( look at the BLI passenger cars…nice metalizing job but just a tiny bit strong with the red/yellow tint)
When you achieve your balance, blend it in to your Walthers car. Spray in thin light coats in case you realize that you’re not satisfied with the hue. If transparent enough you can easily come back with another silver mix whether warmer or cooler.
