I am trying to find info on Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley RR in the 1940’s era in Scribner, Nebraska area. Someone help me find info or tell me where to look. She was taken over by CNRR in the 40’s Then by UPRR late in 50 or 60.HELP. Email me at dlg68057@msn.com
The Omaha Public Library has a book on the FEMV, history, roster, maps, pictures. Can’t remember the title, or author. I checked it out last year.
They might be able to tell you the title, if you lve in the area you might be able to stop in and check it out or maybe your local library has a lending agreement with the Omaha Library. Might be able to find a copy at a used bookseller.

Didn’t check out all the leads, but did a Google search using the term “Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley RR” and among some other leads found some great 1902 photos of their cars and engines in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Some of the other leads may cover the time period in which you’re interested. The URL for the 1902 photos is:

Again, it’s not exactly in the area that you specified, but Mildred Fielder’s book, “Railroads of the Black Hills,” published originally by Superior Publishing and later Bonanza Books , devotes a 27 page, illustrated chapter to the FE&MV in South Dakota. It may have some backgound history that you would find helpful. Unfortunately, the book is OP, so you will either have to get it through Inter Library Loan or buy a copy through an online used book seller such as http://www.alibris.com.

I have a 1/4"=1’ (O scale) side and end elevation of Fremont Elkhorn & Missouri Valley narrow gauge open-platform wood coach, drawn by my late friend Ron Johnston. Ron has been gone since 1973, and I named the main town on my east Texas piney woods railroad in his memory.
